John W. Marcus is co-founder of Marcus, Hastings & Associates, and concentrates his work in the areas of business valuations, financial damages, litigation consulting, and expert witness testimony.

After receiving his MBA in accounting and finance from Tulane University, Mr. Marcus began a consulting career with a major Chicago-based consulting firm.  Following that, he focused on tax matters with one of the largest professional services and auditing firms in the world, later becoming the director of consulting services for a large local Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firm.  As business valuations became a larger part of his workload, Mr. Marcus realized that there was a need among attorneys, Certified Public Accountants, businesses and individuals for a unique firm that could provide a wide breadth of litigation support and valuation services in cases of commercial and personal damages, business valuations, family law matters, and other unusual engagements that sometimes defy categorization.

Since founding Marcus, Hastings & Associates, Mr. Marcus has earned a Certified Forensic Financial Analyst (CFFA) designation—only the third of its kind in the nation—and been certified as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), qualifying him to serve as a litigation consultant or expert witness in a range of valuation and litigation matters.

DEBORAH HASTINGS, MBA

Prior to co-founding Marcus, Hastings & Associates with John Marcus, Deborah Hastings worked at a national personnel consulting firm and a regional insurance agency.  After 10 years in the medical research and health care field, she shifted her professional focus toward management and business areas.  Ms. Hastings has coordinated charitable fund raising events and served on the boards and executive committees of a range of not-for-profit organizations in the Greater New Orleans area.  Most recently, she has served on the Executive Board and as Treasurer of the Parents Council of New Orleans.  Ms. Hastings holds a Bachelors of Science from Louisiana State University (Medical Center campus) and a Masters of Business Administration from Tulane University.
